Hi all! My chicks are just shy of six weeks former and all take feathers. For the past 3 weeks, I've been taking them outside during the day and letting them stay in their run all mean solar day (except for particularly cold or rainy days).

I bring them in in the evenings to warm upward in their brooder with the heat lamp. Daytime temps accept ranged everywhere from 50s to 80s in the past few weeks .. gotta honey that crazy Maryland weather :)

Nights have been around the 50s lately .. and so I'chiliad wondering if these chicks will be okay to live outside full time now? They have a fully covered coop which opens into their run, so they'll have enough of shelter if they need information technology. I would prefer not to run electric to information technology for a heat lamp.

Too, our atmospheric condition man is calling for pelting this week .. should I be concerned nigh clammy/cool weather likewise (60s and raining)? Or will the chicks exist okay if they stay in their coop those days?

Thanks!

I got my 4 br's and two gsl's at v weeks. They went direct to the coop with a red heat lamp hung high. Let them out everyday and leave their coop door open, they go in and out as they please. Usually play and scratch for 30 mins at a time before going within for a pause.

I'm in VA and getting the same crazy conditions. My babies are non quite 7wks, just they are out full fourth dimension. I do accept a estrus lamp for nights when it gets below l. They have all done very well. They don't seem to huddle almost the lamp too much. I have placed a large object in front end of the coop to cake winds, simply room for ventilation. Yours should be alright.

My girls are 5 weeks one-time and live outside full fourth dimension, and we have the heating lamp gear up, simply they don't really seem to utilize it unless it'south really common cold at night, which doesn't actually happen where nosotros alive. Yours should be fine.
